Basement Tool Bench Organization

This was a fairly simple project, a workbench that needed organization and a little structure. We were able to use a lot of the existing shelving and pegboards. We also used vertical space, got rid of a lot of things that had been hanging around unused for years.

The main goal for this project was to be able to find common tools easily for day-to-day home projects.

We created a few different zones:

  • Painting Shelves - contains all the paints for various parts of the house, as well as the rollers and other tools needed to do a quick touchup project.

  • Home-Specific Bins - held all of the manuals for home appliances, specific tools or accesories for certain parts of the house.

  • Battery Station - included organized and backfilled battery station, and a bin for old batteries that need to be recycled.

  • Clear workspace - we made sure to keep the main bench clear for projects, and laid down new surface to make it look fresh.

Total Organizing Time - 5 hours

Product Budget - $130
